Do I Really Need a Filling?

Restorations (fillings) are one of the most common dental procedures—and one of the most important. By removing the damaged dental tissue in a cavity and restoring your tooth surface loss with a composite material, we are saving that tooth, its root, and its nerves. If you forgo a filling, the cavity may grow so deep that a root canal, crown, or tooth extraction will be required.

When filling a tooth, a dentist typically removes decayed matter by using a rotary instrument and water, then shapes the space and fills it with a replacement material. Though fillings are most commonly used to treat cavities, they may also help save teeth that are cracked, broken or worn down by excessive brushing (usually at the gum line).

Your comfort is always important to us. We pride ourselves on staying up to date with the latest technology, and make sure that every treatment, including fillings, are as painless as possible.
